Australia's Moody in Fine Form for Worcestershire

LONDON - Worcestershire's Australian star Tom Moody made light of his round-the-world exertions as he inspired his side to an Axa English Sunday league victory with 80 runs off 89 balls against Durham at New Road on Sunday. Moody guided his team to a total of 235 for seven and Durham were dismissed for 211 despite a fifth-wicket stand of 104 in 14 overs by Jonathan Lewis (62) and Paul Collingwood (51).
It has been a tough few weeks for Moody. After captaining western Australia to success in the Sheffield Shield final in Perth, he made his way back to England via a series of one-day Internationals in India and Sharjah. Against Durham he hit half a dozen boundaries - including a six out of the ground off James Boiling - and shared in a match-winning stand of 110 with opening partner Vikram Solanki (44).
At Lord's, 19-year-old Owais Shah struck an unbeaten 87 as Middlesex saw off Glamorgan, winning by three wickets. The Welshmen had set a challenging target of 218 of their 40 overs, Robert Croft (50) and Tony Cottey (56) both in excellent form. But Shah, with able support from Justin Langer (38), was in blistering form to bring Middlesex back into contention, before eventually seeing them home with three balls to spare.
At Arundel, Dimitri Mascarenhas claimed three for 12 as Hampshire trounced Sussex by 76 runs. Sussex, set 184 to win, were dismissed for 107 with Peter Hartley and John Stephenson grabbing two wickets apiece as the hosts plunged to their fifth consecutive one-day defeat of the season. Hampshire Skipper Robin Smith hit the top score of the match with 47 as the visitors posted 183 for nine after being put in on a slow pitch.
